Ulysses Rowe Obituary

Ulysses Rowe was born on October 6, 1941, to Bud and Susie Rowe (nee Patterson) in Elba, Alabama. He was the sixth of thirteen children. His parents and five siblings, Catherine Rowe, Addie Jenkins, Hubert Rowe, Luenevia Smith, and Ollie Martin preceded him in death.

Ulysses, also known affectionately as "C", graduated from Elba Colored High School. He moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1965. Having married in 1962, his bride, Qubie Andrews, joined him in Cleveland in 1966. This loving union would last over 60 years, celebrating the birth of three children, Teresa, Anqunetta and Michelle. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who loved his family unconditionally.

A trusting and devoted servant of the Lord, he joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in 1977, under the leadership of Dr. R.L. Fuller, serving faithfully for forty-six years until his passing. He was a member of many church organizations and committees. This included the Deacon Board and Trustee Board. He loved to sing and served as president of the Male Chorus for many years. He is also fondly remembered as a Superintendent of the Junior Sunday School. Deacon Rowe was very active around the church; plowing snow in the winter and performing various tasks without hesitation. When he saw something that needed to be done, he did it.

Ulysses had many interests in life. He was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. He was an amateur photographer who also loved to fish. As an 'Ace Mechanic', Ulysses serviced many vehicles for family and friends. When he could find the time to relax, he enjoyed watching old western movies and television shows, and spending time with family.

Ulysses is now in eternal rest with our Lord and Savior. He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted wife, Qubie Rowe; three devoted and loving children, Teresa Rowe, Anqunetta Johnson (Rufus) and Michelle Hall (Dante'); grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (Migiwa), Aaron Peterson, Lauren Rowe, Christian Hall, Kaila Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Leah Johnson and Eugene Rowe (Mattie), Nell Warren, Jeannette Holmes, Annette Adams (Tommy), Pauline Brianna Harrington; great-grandchildren, Melchiah and Moriah; one brother and six sisters, Matthews, Corene Cooper and Lorene Stelly and a host of other relatives and friends.
