Tyrone Vernon Brooks was born on April 17, 1943 to the late Ruth Pauline Victoria Brooks (Jamilla Bey) and Robert G. Adams in Cleve-land, Ohio. He was the oldest to his brother Reginald who preceded him in death. Tyrone accepted Christ at an early age. He received his formal education in the Cleveland Public School System. Tyrone graduated from John Hay High School with honors in Business Ad-ministration. He was one of eight male students who attended the school. Upon completion of high school he was enlisted into the US Army in 1966 where he was stationed in South Vietnam. He received an honorary discharge with several distinguished medals of honor in 1968.
Upon returning home he was employed as a skilled laborer at General Motor Corporation the Fish-er Body Cadillac Division, General Motors Lordstown, Chevrolet – Brookpark Division and retiring in 2005 after forty years of service.
On November 4, 1974 Tyrone was introduced to the love of his life Betty Jean Simpson by Johnnie and Cherry Sanders. After a long twelve year courtship they were married on October 25, 1986 the day after her birthday at the home of their best friends James and Viola Woody. It was officiated by the late Pastor Leon Lawrence. To this union they were blessed with two children: David Cordell and Chanel Nicole.
On September, 2014 Tyrone joined the Temple Baptist Church under the teaching and Guidance of Pastor Sedric D. Veal, Sr. where he faithfully attended service until his health failed. He came to love the Great Big Family of Temple.
After a prolonged illness Tyrone departed this life on November 6, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
Tyrone leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife: Betty Jean; two children: David and Chanel (Eric) Desmond; six grandchildren: Tyson, Jace, Siya, Caliph, Elisha (EJ) and Camille; three cousins: Renee Brooks, Johanna Brooks and Lawrence Brooks; six sisters-in-law: Artressia, Delores, Char-lotte, Gail, Gwen and Beverly; seven brothers-in law: Charles Chambliss, James Cornell Simpson, Douglas Lee, William Tyrone (Sylvia), Milbert (Debbie), St. Mark (Debbie) and Nathaniel and a host of other relatives and friends. Tyrone was also preceded in death by, Louis (Charlene), Clifford, Ronald (Sally), Tony and Flonnie.
