Teresa Jeanne Melcher was born October 23, 1960 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to her parents
Mr. Bernard Lyle and Mrs. Lila Mae Melcher who preceded her in death. She was the sixth of seven children.
Teresa relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1977 to attend Job Corp. She met and married her ex-husband Ronald "Ron" Burns and to that union four children were born. They remained friends until her passing.
Teresa Burns was a very hard worker, and she worked several jobs until eventually joining the bowling industry which she loved and continued her passion until her illness would not allow her to. She held many titles and wore many hats during her bowling career. At different times in her career, Teresa ran her own children's league, ran tournaments, was a manager at Ambassador and was manager with the Cleveland Women's Bowling Association. She was well respected and loved amongst her peers. She was an avid bowler in many leagues as well as her children, grandchildren and some nieces and nephews. She turned them all into bowling alley babies.
Terri or "T which she is lovingly called by some of her family members, enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, playing cards (with a little trash talking), as well as going on group bus trips to God knows where. You say fun, she'd say when and where. She loved her dog Scrappy and cat Casper. She spoiled them and treated them as if they were humans. Teresa was always giving. had an unselfish heart and loved unconditionally.
She had such a nurturing spirit that her doors were ALWAYS open to anyone who needed her support. She was a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a friend and an inspiration to so many people.
Teresa accepted Jesus Christ into her life and was baptized on January 24, 2010, at Rome Missionary Baptist Church where she became a member. Because of her illness she was not able to attend regularly. She reinstated on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Teresa was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, in which she went into remission for ten years. She battled hard as she was diagnosed two more times. She continued to fight until she was called home by the most high on Friday, May 3, 2024. She was a good and faithful servant.
