It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family, friends and The House of Peace Staff must say goodbye to our beloved Sylvester Williams, who passed away at the age of 67, on January 2, 2021. Sylvester Williams was born on May 23, 1953 in Forrest City Arkansas to the late Louis and Millie Williams. He is a graduate of Lincoln High School and he attended Jerusalem Missionary Baptist in Forrest City, Arkansas where he accepted Christ at an early age.
In 1971, Sylvester moved to Cleveland and was joined in holy matrimony to Edith Williams in 1974 who preceded him in death in 2004. To this 30 year union, Sylvester raised five children Ronnie, Raymon, Norries, Derek (deceased) and James. In 2006, Sylvester was united in holy matrimony to his loving wife, Jane Williams. He became a member and first Deacon of Temple of Deliverance Baptist Church for many years. In 2008, Sylvester became and remained a dedicated, faithful servant, and Deacon of New Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church until his passing.
On Saturday January 2, 2021, Sylvester was called from labor to reward to be with his Father in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Millie Williams; three sisters Bertha Lee Williams, Lillie Mae Nelson and Lorece Withers; two brothers Charlie Lewis Williams and Verlon Williams; one son Derek Hood.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Jane Williams; four children, Ronnie and Raymon Fitzgerald; (Rev.) Norries Hood Sr., and James Hood Jr. Senior Chief USN (RET). Seven Grandchildren, Ronnie, Tiesha, Donte, Norries Jr., Tiana, Brandon and Brittany; Two sisters Victoria Williams and Mae Catherine Harris (Edward) and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Your services to The House of Peace will be missed. RIP Sir, job well done.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church (757 Eddy Road, Cleveland, OH). A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
