Ruby Lee Humphrey

Ruby Lee Judkins Humphrey was born to the late Annie McKenzie and Hunter Judkins on September 1, 1936, in Alexander City, Alabama. 

She graduated from Benjamin Russel High School, Alexander City, Alabama, and attended Alabama. A&M College of Huntsville, Alabama. 

Ruby accepted Christ at an early age in Alabama. After moving to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1950, Ruby became a member of Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Eugene Ward, Sr. Ruby remained a member of Temple under the present leadership of Dr. Sedric Veal, Sr. 

On a trip to Cleveland, OH visit her cousin Lee Dale, she was introduced by her brother-in- law Herbert Humphrey to his brother George. On October 5, 1957, Ruby and George were joined in marriage. To this union, two (2) children were born, Cheryl and Gwyn Humphrey.

Ruby was employed at Suburban Pavilion Nursing Home; she retired from Mr. Coffee Factory in 1990. Ruby loved listening to Aretha Franklin and T.D. Jakes, doing word search puzzles, watching the Gameshow Network, and playing lottery scratch-off tickets. 

Ruby departed this life and into the arms of Jesus on September 7, 2025, was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Marvin, Adolphus, and sister Anne. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 68 years, George; two daughters, Cheryl. Humphrey, Gwen Willis of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother: Chat George Chat George Judkins of Alexander City, Alabama; four grandchildren, James Humphrey, Shanicea Tucker, and Shaunte Humphrey, all of Cleveland, Ohio; Donte Humphrey of Miami, Florida; four great-grandchildren, Trequan, Londyn, Deshon, and Darien, all of Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, sisters, and brothers-in-law, family, and friends. 

We will forever miss her beautiful smile, her great sense of humor, and her glorious spirit. 

A public viewing will be held on September 19, 2025, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH.  The Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 20, 2025, with a 9:30AM Wake and 10:00AM Service also at the House of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH. Sedric D. Veal, Sr, Eulogist.

The Interment will immediately follow at the Cleveland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4324 Green Rd, Highland Hills, OH.
