We are saddened to announce the transition of Mr. Phalon Bass.
Phalon Byron Bass was born on April 24, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Patricia and Edward Bass. As their only child, he was deeply loved and cherished.
Phalon was a proud graduate of Shaker Heights High School, where he made his mark both academically and athletically, excelling on the basketball court. His talent and determination led him to Mercyhurst College, where he dominated the conference in points and rebounds. He later continued his academic and athletic journey at Howard University, where he earned his degree in education while continuing to pursue the game he loved.
Phalon had a natural gift for connecting with young people. His passion for working with children began early at his grandmother's daycare and grew into a meaningful career. He later worked at Applewood Centers, where he mentored and supervised teenage boys, offering guidance, structure, and care to those who needed it most.
A creative at heart, Phalon had a deep love for storytelling and film-making. He was always writing, always imagining and always pursuing opportunities to bring his ideas to life on screen.
Phalon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized by his grandfather at Damascus Baptist Church. His faith remained an important foundation in his life. He later became a faithful member of Trinity Christian Church, where he continued until the pandemic.
Phalon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, his passion, his creativity, and his presence will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. Though we mourn his passing, we find comfort and peace in knowing that this is not goodbye forever, we will see him again.
Phalon leaves behind his loving & devoted Mother Patricia, Aunts, Anita (Larry) Arrington Bey, Alfreda (Edward) Robinson, Bernice (Harlan) King, Uncle, Dallas Lauderdale Jr., Cousins, Azizi (Aaron) Slocum, Raj (Angie) Arrington Bey, Benjami Arrington Bey, Phillis (Carl) Campbell, Andrea Arrington, Aleighna Robinson, Tahja Lauderdale, Dallas Lauderdale III, Britany King, Sequitha Vanderhorst, Harlan A.
