Patricia Y Newman

Patricia Yvonne Newman she went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home on December 11, 2024. 

Patricia lovingly known as Rat was born on April 5, 1943 to the late Elijah James Rodgers and Rose Mae Williams-Daniel in Lorain, OH. Pat became deaf at the age of 6 months due to an illness In 1953 she moved from Lorain to Akron OH where Rose Mae married Robert Daniel who raised her as his own daughter. June 4, 1963 she gave birth to her only child Renee E Rodgers. 

Pat gave her life to Christ at an early age attending Greater Peace Baptist Church and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Akron. She resided in Akron until she met her soulmate, Nathaniel Newman. They were married on October 19, 1974. She then relocated to Cleveland where they were married for 36 years until he preceded her in death in December 2010. They were an active couple at Christian Assembly in Richmond Hts and also Members of the Black Deaf Association. Pat's hobbies were sewing, traveling, and cooking which she was great at until her sight started failing her. She worked at Goodwill Industries in Akron and at V.G.R.S. in Cleveland 

Patricia is preceded by death by both her parent Elijah James Rodgers and Rose Mae Williams-Daniel her step-father Robert Daniel. Husband Nathaniel Newman, siblings James Daniel (Mary) and Tommy Daniel. She's survived by her daughter Renee E Rodgers and brother Victor Daniel & Sister-in-law Annette Daniel. Her Best friend Hazel Brown and Goddaughter LaTonya Dysart. Private interpreter Patricia Betts-Eddie and a host of loving Family and Friends.

A public viewing will be held on December 18, 2024 from 4:00 - 6:00PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH. The Celebration Of Life will be held on December 19, 2024, with a 9:30AM Wake and 10:30AM Service at Avon Baptist Church, 10902 Avon Avenue, Cleveland, OH.
