Norman was born on March 13, 1970, to proud parents, Norman Curtis Hives and Gloria Dannette Hives (Deceased). Norman was called home on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Norman was groomed early to become one of the most prolific preachers around. His grandmother, Lola Hughes, took him under her wings and introduced him to the Lord at an early age. Giving his life to Christ, Norman was baptized and saved in the early 1980's as a member of Bethlehem Temple Church, under the late Bishop Jesse James. As Norman grew older and matured in his walk with Christ, he prayed for recollection and comprehension of the word of God. He used this gift to help draw many souls to Christ. If you knew him, you understood why he was called a walking bible.
Norman's trial sermon was delivered in the early 90's at World Pentecostal Church under the leadership of his Godfather and Pastor the Late Bishop Jesse Lee Horn, Sr. It was called, "Another One Bites the Dust" [Translation] "The Devil Thought He Had Me." Norman's final sermon, "Working on It came just a few months ago at St. Andrew's Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Frederick Dewayne Watson, Sr. Norman talked about how he was working on loving people, helping people, being more like Christ - he was working on it.
Norman was incarcerated briefly. He was falsely accused and all charges were dropped. However, while incarcerated he kept his bible on him at all times and the inmates would say, "Hey Preach" and ask questions about the bible and often pray with him. God will use you wherever you are. Norman was funny and quick to crack a joke with his "up jump the boogie" self. He loved going to the library and read countless books including the dictionary which grew his vocabulary. He always had an extraordinary word for every situation. Norman was a great man of God, a father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
Norman is survived by his 6 children: Tony, Curtis, David, Jonathan, Jeannivee, and Norman Jr.; 4 grandchildren: Azaria, Santana, and Eris (Curtis), Ezra (Tony); 5 siblings: Leon (Tiffany), Lakeya, Michele, Marc, and Norman; 5 godbrothers and sisters: Homer, Tracy, Kietha, Lisa, and Gary; 23 nieces and nephews: LaTaunia, JaVier, Casiah, Elizha, lyauna, Anthanie, Tishonnie, Chavionna, Shantavionna, Noel, King Jeremiah, Laura, Alexandria, Kalivia, Dashauna, David, Mar'kiya, Malaysia, Marquell, Maurice, Marshawn, Miles, and Kali; as well as countless other extended family.
