Mother Minnie Cherry Obituary

Her Life and Legacy

Minnie Cherry was born on April 4, 1941, in Aliceville, Alabama, to the late Earlie and Nancy Miller, Sr. Four others- Nathaniel, Daniel, Charlie, and Earle, Jr. and two sisters, Jeffie Howard and Bessie Beard, preceded her in death.

Minnie received her education through the Aliceville School System. On October 19, 1961, Minnie entered into marriage with Andrew Cherry, Sr. Their union was blessed with three children: Mercia (preceded her in death), Andrea, and Andrew, Jr.

Minnie dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She worked at MetroHealth as a Nursing Assistant until she was injured on the job and was unable to continue her career. Her work reflected the caring and compassionate spirit she carried throughout her life.

At an early age, Minnie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her faith became a foundation throughout her life. Minnie was a faithful member of Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church, which she joined under the leadership of Pastor Henry Brown Sr. She served diligently on the Mothers' Board and as a member of the Senior Choir until her health began to decline. Her dedication to the church and her love for God were evident in the way she lived her life.

Minnie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, church member, and friend whose life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, love, and service. Family was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She found happiness in traveling, attending church services, enjoying fellowship, and creating lasting memories with her family and friends.

Minnie's love for God and her family was evident in the way she lived and cared for others. She will forever be remembered for her love, laughter, wisdom, strength, prayers, and the precious memories she created throughout her life.

Minnie departed this earthly life peacefully on September 6, 2026, at 2:20 a.m. Although she has left this earthly home, her love, faith, strength, and memories will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.

Minnie leaves to cherish her memories her daughter and son, Andrea (Alvin, Sr.) and Andrew, Jr. (Janine); her beloved grandchildren, Lashonda (Ricardo), Shalonda, Quentin (Sheri), Vejua (AP), Angelina, Diamond, Alvin, Jr., Ali, John (Tiona), Alex (Essence), and Ja'Lynne; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mamie Harris of Atlanta, GA, dear friend Earlie Sykes, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

Minnie's earthly journey has ended, but her love remains. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." - Ecclesiastes 3:1
