Melvin Dumas was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 25, 1938 to Moses and Girtha. He was her only son and he enjoyed the love of his four doting sisters: Evelyn, Charlie Mae, Jeanette (deceased) and Ernestine.
Mel departed this life on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
Melvin accepted Christ as an early age at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, under the Shepard, Dr. Robert L. Fuller. Remember, Jesus gave His life for you - Thank Him for that sacrifice the is no greater love than that. Now give your life to Him!
He retired from Chrysler (Detroit) and relocated to his dream city Las Vegas. His neighbor's called him the "Major of the Street" because he cared for the elderly and assisted with security and home repair's. His joy was in serving "His" which showed their love by being by his bedside until family could arrive. For this we are eternally grateful.
He is at rest now. No nightmares or disturbance. Our world is tired of being tired! Do something!! Remember He gave His life for you - Death is coming.
Sometimes He takes along time in life as He did with Mel, but He is coming when He is ready. Be ye also ready - do it now - tomorrow is not promised - you are God's blessing to mankind, wear it humbly. Seek to reflect His graciousness.
The surviving "Dumas Tribe" consists of a host of sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, unofficially adopted children, nieces, nephews, cousins and many that he fathered and brothered, or those that he cared for. A special thanks to Miss Lee and his Las Vegas (Love) family.
