Maudra Dennis Obituary

Maudra Izetta Dennis was born on February 6, 1930, to the late Jane and Jesse Dennis in Woodville Mississippi, she was proceeded in death by her siblings: Catherine, Alonzo, Paris Odessa, James Garfield, Gertrude, Eula Ann, Ollie Lorraine, Hilton, Bobbie Lee, and twins, Esau and Jacob, and daughter Gertrude. 

Maudra accepted Christ at an early age at Univesta Baptist Church located in Dolorosa, Mississippi, (where she was baptized in the river). Maudra graduated from Sadie V. Thompson High School in Natchez, Mississippi, and later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. Following her older brother, Hilton...in 1952, where she met and married Hurley Frazier, where she birthed four children, Barbara, Gertrude, Willie, and Jeffrey! Maudra was always devoted to her children and family, and was also the most loving Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Great grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother, 

Sister Dennis joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where she was a faithful servant for the Lord for 72 years. Maudra served under the Pastorate of the late Dr. R. L. Fuller, the late Elder Oliver D. Bouie, and Elder Eric L. Waldon. As a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, she joined the Ladies Guild and the Women's Ministry. You could always hear her singing her favorite Fly Away" later joining The Revelation Choir and The Voices of Praise. She sang, "I'll attend Sunday school faithfully. Her favorite time was early morning when she had her alone time to read the Bible and pray! 

Maudra was employed with Coyne Textile Services until her retirement. She could not remain idle and became a sitter for a little troop of children, starting with her youngest grandchild. As word spread, other family members left their children in her care. Today this little troop remains friends! Maudra's joy was cooking, and everyone looked forward to the holidays for her outstanding meals. Her cakes were the talk of the town. 

She leaves to cherish her memory three children; Barbara (William), Willie (Susan), and Jeffrey (LaShawn), grandchildren: Antoine, Charles, William Great grandchildren; Terion, Tevin, Isaiah, Alonna, Devin, Aaliyah, Aubrey; Great-Great Grandchildren; Mekhi, Chase, Lailah, Dailyn, Brielle, and a host of Nieces and Nephews. She also leaves her very special friends, Sister Dorothy Hull, Mother Josephine Morris, and Mother Ruby McNeil. 

A public viewing will be held on April 2, 2025, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH.  The Celebration of Life Service will be on April 3, 2025, 10:00AM Service at Mt Hermon Baptist Church,  2516 E 40th St, Cleveland, OH.
