Marlene C. Williams Howard, born on July 4, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Agnew and Lois Williams, had a distinguished life journey.
Educated in the Cleveland public school system, she graduated from Shaw High School in 1973. Marlene's spiritual path led her to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she received baptism under the guidance of the late Reverend Hill. In 1973, she entered into marriage with Billy Hannah, with whom she had two children, La'Shondra and Michael. Subsequently, in December 2000, she wed Neal Marshal Howard and joined Mt. Esther Baptist Church. Marlene's commitment to her family and community was evident through her exceptional care for her parents, children, grandchildren, and those in need. With a career spanning over 30 years, she excelled in the food industry, holding the position of kitchen manager.
In 1998, she pursued advanced culinary studies at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, where she encountered her second spouse, Neal Marshall Howard. Marlene's family held a central place in her life, particularly her children and granddaughters, whom she endearingly referred to as her "Gigi Girls." Her lively presence brought joy to every gathering, never missing an opportunity to celebrate with loved ones. Despite grappling with health adversities that led to her retirement, Marlene displayed resilience and remained actively involved in her community, earning accolades as Resident of the Month. Her legacy of love, compassion, and optimism endures in the memories of those fortunate enough to have known her. Marlene was also preceeded in death by her sister, two uncles, and an aunt.
Marlene's passing on March 22, 2025, left a void in the hearts of her surviving children, La'Shondra, Michael (Deanna) Hannah, grandchildren, Brittany, Brandi, Michelle, Mykal and Amiyah; great grandchildren, Faith-Marie, Aliyah Chanel and Riyan Royale, beloved sister Gwendolyn Lykes, brother, Michael (Jeanne) Williams and a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, family and beloved friends.
