Obituary

Mother Mamie R. Williams (Nee Johnson) was born March 3rd, 1941 in Silas, Alabama to the late Bredell and Lillie (Murphy) Johnson Sr. She was raised by her father and step-mother, Delphie Johnson, following the death of her mother. Mother Mamie attended schools in Shady Grove, Alabama and graduated in 1959. She was the star of her high school basketball team. Immediately following graduation, she relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where she met and married the love of her life, Ervin "Sonny" Williams, Jr. on September 8th, 1960. To this union, seven children were born. 

Mother Mamie worked for the Sheraton Hotel for several years and eventually began working for Super Kaiser Permanente until her retirement. 

Mother Mamie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was an active member of the Garden of Prayer COGIC for over 50 years where she sang in the choir and served on the Mother's Board until her health began to decline. Mother Mamie was a lover of God and people. She was passionate about cooking and loved to feed anyone she could. She enjoyed watching basketball and football. She was a beacon of light to all that she met. 

Mother Mamie was a faithful servant and on December 3rd, 2022, she finished her course and transitioned to her heavenly home. Mother Mamie was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Ervin "Sonny" Williams Jr., grandson, Terry McKissack II, six siblings Bertha, Daniel, Freeman, Sylvester, Lula, and Edward, and a host of in-laws. 

She leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Luther Williams, Laurence (Fatima) Williams, Leonard (Naomi) Williams, Linda Brown, Terry Williams, Lavette Williams, and Ervin Williams III. Eight grandchildren: Sade, Ariel, Corey, Jalin, James, Ciera, Lizzy, and Terri'lynn. Two great-grandchildren: Landen and Cartier. One brother: Bredell Johnson Jr., five in- laws: Robert Philon, Alfreda Johnson, Marietta Johnson, Mallie Williams and Rosa Williams, one God son: Aaron Coleman. Close friends: Delores Graham and Mary Smith, and many other relatives and friends that were dear to her heart. 

A public viewing will be Friday, December 9, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street (off East 71st and Harvard), Cleveland, OH.  The Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022, 9:30 AM Wake and 10:00 AM at the Calvary COGIC Church, 0808 Superior Ave., Cleveland, OH. Interment will immediately follow at the West Park Cemetery, 3942 Ridge Rd, Cleveland, OH

Face Mask Will Be Required For BOTH Services.
