Lena Acoff Obituary

Reflection Of Life

Lena Mae Acoff was born on June 23, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, and lived a life rooted in unwavering faith, compassion, and service. A devoted believer, she trusted God in every season and lived out that faith through kindness, humility, and a love for others. Lena Mae walked humbly with God and was known for her strength, humility, and generosity. She was a guiding light to family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her and affectionately 'earned' the family nickname 'Sargent'.

Lena Mae joined Mt Hermon Baptist Church at the age of 7 under the leadership of Rev. Robert L. Fuller and laid the foundation for a faithful walk with God. She was a graduate of East Technical High School, Class of 1960, and also completed a degree from the Jane Adams School of Nursing. Her very first job was at the University Hospital, and she had a brief stint as an RTA Bus Driver.

Lena Mae, now living in Las Vegas, NV, dedicated 45 years of service to the nursing profession, answering a true calling to care for others. Throughout her career as a registered nurse, she served with compassion, skill, and grace, often going above and beyond to comfort patients and families during their most difficult and vulnerable moments.

After retiring in 2007, Lena Mae continued to be of service in her community by being a leader of a Boy Scouts troop. On November 3, 1996, she made Second Baptist Church her new church home, where she served diligently for just shy of 30 years. She was a volunteer, she worked in the pantry, was a part of the Ruth Mission Circle Outreach Program, as well as the women's ministry.

Lena Mae is lovingly survived by her 4 sisters: Bernice Brown, Theodis Teamer, Nadine Edwards, & Sandra Mitchell. She leaves also to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a special Sister-in-Law Delila, an adopted granddaughter, Cierra, Extended Family Edith Edwards, and Bro Willis Warren (Second Baptist). Family was a treasured blessing, and she took great joy in being a God Parent, Sister, Aunt, Daughter, friend, and mentor.

Lena Mae's life was a testament to faith in God, dedication to helping others, and love for family. Her legacy lives on in every life touched, every prayer spoken, and ever act of compassion she put forth while leading by example.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
