John's Story
Cleveland, Ohio - John D. Jones, warmly known as Butch, was born on November 18, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, and passed away peacefully. As a lifelong resident of Cleveland, he was the cherished son of John H.
Jones and Mary Jones, both of whom have predeceased him. John received his education at Addison High School and was dedicated to his work at the Farmhouse on 89th and Woodland. He was a treasured sibling to Gwendolyn Jones, Diane Jones-Perry, and Kenneth Jones, all of whom have also passed away.
In his role as a father, John is survived by his children, Sonya Blythewood, Tamika Jones, and Micaela Hicks, and stepchildren Ariel Hicks and Quinton Hicks. His daughter Teranique Ticks preceded him in passing. John was a proud grandfather to Marvin, Tiara, Da'Jonae, Devin, Ja'shon, Jasmine, Elijah, and Noah. As a great-grandparent, he found joy in Karrenia, Kenya, Mar'shai, Ayden, King, and Devin Jr. His great-grandchild, Dre'Quan, also preceded him in death. John was further blessed with great-great-grandchildren Gianna and Gustavo. He cherished Keith Jones and Anthony Jones dearly.
Renowned for his passion for football, John was an ardent Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His favorite color was black, and he was known for his saying, "Hey square." John's strength, kindness, and profound love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. A private service in his honor will be conducted at the House of Peace Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on October 11, 2025, at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH. Sedric D. Veal Sr, Eulogist.
