Jamous Lee Gills

The late Jamous Lee Gills known as (Tom) was born April 18, 1937 in Bibb County (Bret) Alabama, to the late William Lee and Leatha Gills who preceded him in death. Tom was the second oldest of 8 siblings. As a young man Tom attended Mt. Tabor Elementary & Mt. Pleasant High School. Tom was raised in the church with his siblings.

Tom met & married Callie Rutledge in 1957. To this union six beautiful children were born: Julia, James Lee, James Edward (deceased), Ernest Lee (deceased), David Lee and Jamous Lee Jr. (deceased). Tom relocated to Cleveland, OH with his wife and children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing & working on cars at his son’s mechanic shop. Tom enjoyed sitting around his family sharing memories & kept his family laughing.

Tom departed this life on March 12, 2021 he leaves to cherish his memory: Wife, Callie Gills; one loving daughter, Julia Gills; loving sons, James Lee, David Lee, James Edward-deceased, Ernest Lee-deceased, and Jamous Lee Jr.-deceased. Tom is preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings Jessie B. Gills, Earlie Dean Powell, Joe Louis Gills, Lillie Mae Shears, and Gracie Mae Gills.

Those left to cherish his memory are sisters ,Reatha Lee Parker (John Henry-deceased) Mary Hellen Dukes (Alvin Dukes-deceased) Clara M. Johnson (Robert J. Johnson-deceased) Phillip Rowland Powell, and Priscilla Gills. Grandchildren Angel, Pooh, Cristal, David Jr. Amanda & Jay. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
