Jacqueline Wilkins Obituary

Jackie was born to Lewellyn and Sarah Hill in Cleveland, OH in 1944. She was the eldest of five children born to this union. And from her father's second marriage, her youngest sibling was born.

Jackie graduated and acquired her diploma after having her first child in 1964. After obtaining her diploma, she enrolled in a technical school where she became a certified Data Entry Operator. She worked for various companies before she started her position at Standard Oil, where she worked her way up to a supervisor position. She had a great work ethic, as she was always gainfully employed. After so many years of working at East Ohio Gas Co., she took a break from the workforce to tend to home.

Jackie married her high school sweetheart, James Lee Wilkins, Sr. on January 25, 1964. To their union, five children were born but Jackie was the mother to many! She and James raised not only their children, but some of their siblings, their nieces and nephews, grandchildren and even kids that lived on their streets. She certainly believed in discipline. We believe she invented the game, "Woopin Mama". Jackie and James enjoyed a good family gathering, going out to parties, and traveling. Jackie would even gather the kids and take them on trips. If there was something she wanted to do, some place she wanted to go, she did it and she went (with casinos and church at the top of the list)!

Jackie accepted and knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She found her home church up the street from her house on Lardet. She made Morelight Missionary Baptist Church her home church in 1981, which is where she remained until her departure.

It goes without saying that Jackie not only loved, but was EXTREMELY proud of her children; especially her grandchildren. In her own way, she made sure each of us them had our own relationship with her. In spite of all she went through in life, she persevered through much that would have broken many. She suffered much loss, but somehow still managed to fight to the end. Her strength is certainly admired and truly exemplified as the matriarch of the family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Lewellyn Hill, Sr., her husband James Wilkins, Sr., her son Carlos Wilkins and her brother Lewllyn Hill, II. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: James Jr. "Jamie" (Michelle), Carlita "Nae Nae", Ramone "Vel" (Zeta), and Rausienne "Teko" Broome (Michael). Grandchildren: Jason, Ebony, Ramone Jr. "Champ", Akilah, Korraun (Diamond), Rau-Elle Sr. "Shaun", Dejean "Pooter".Ariel "Nikki", Damerisse "Cooter", and Amir. Her sisters: Patricia Gambrell, Gaynell "Tiny" Ivey, Alfreda Hill, Miriam "Penny" Jones (Reuben). Nine great- grandchildren, two god-children, one "adopted" daughter, Kimlicia "KK", one best friend, Willie White, and a host of loved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
