Hubert Kidd, Sr Obituary

Hubert James Kidd, Sr. was born and raised in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio. He was one of three children born to his parents, Hubert James Kidd and Mary Lawson, alongside his late sister, Francis Brownlee, and his surviving sister, Mamie Bradley. Hubert was affectionately known as "Poo Doo" to many of his close friends and relatives.

Hubert accepted Christ and was baptized at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, where he began his personal, private spiritual journey.

A proud graduate of East Technical High School, Hubert's passion for service led him to a fulfilling career in Cleveland Public Utilities, retiring as a supervisor for Cleveland Sewer Maintenance, where his leadership was valued for many years.

On February 2, 1962, Hubert married Virginia Warren. Although their marriage eventually ended, their bond remained strong, and they continued to share a deep and lasting friendship.

In his younger years, Hubert was a man of many talents and interests. He could often be found casting a line at the East 55th Street Marina fishing area, bowling a strike in one of his leagues, or stepping up to the plate in a softball game. Hubert's enthusiasm for life extended to his role as Commander of the Cleveland Auxiliary Police, where his dedication earned him several awards, including from the Bureau of Community Policing Auxiliary Police and the Case Western Reserve University Center for Criminal Justice.

Music was another of Hubert's lifelong passions, a talent he shared with his father. Whether playing the trumpet or drums, his love for music brought joy to him.

Hubert departed this life on Monday, September 2, 2024

Hubert is survived by his sister: Mamie Bradley; three sons; Charles Elliot Kidd (Patti), Lorenzo Kidd (Darlene) and Hubert James Kidd, Jr. four grandchildren: Brittany Lavon Stewart, Brian Daniel Kidd (Arnetta), Charlise Williams, Alexandria Capri Kidd-Tapia (Rey). his great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Hubert lived life on his own terms, embodying the essence of doing things his way. His independent spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
