Henrietta Brantley Obituary

We are saddened to announce the transition of Ms. Henrietta Brantley.

Henrietta Brantley was born on April 1, 1935, to the late Louise Hatcher and the late Emanuel Courtland, Sr. in Selma, Alabama. She was the eldest of four siblings and held a deep affection for her brothers during her marriage to Wayde Brantley, she gave birth to five children she lived in New York before moving to Cleveland, OH and calling it home. 

Henrietta’s professional endeavors led her to Alcoa, where she served as a steelworker and a certified Forklift Operator. Her commitment and loyalty were evident during her tenure at Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Robert I. Matthews within the church community she actively participated as a choir member and a deaconess. On her days off she devoted her time to Willow Park Nursing Home offering solace through song and prayer to the sick and disabled. 

Guided by divine providence, Henrietta joined New Home Missionary Baptist Church on April 2, 1017, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. D. Anthony Bohles. Here, she joined the Courtesy Guild and readily extended assistance wherever required. 

Henrietta’s profound joy was fund in attending church services on Sundays to offer praise to God. Regardless of life’s challenges, she maintained a spirit of gratitude, acknowledging the divine protection and guidance she received. As a woman of faith, she exuded elegance and kindness, embodying a gentle and compassionate demeanor.

At the age of 90, Henrietta gracefully departed in her residence on June 17, 2025. Her grandaughter and devoted caregiver, Kyia, ensured her final days were filled with love and adherence to a life pleasing to God.

She was preceded in death by her son Dwight; Mother, Louise Hatcher; Father, Emanuel Courtland, Sr; Brother, William Courtland; and Brother, Sampson Courtland Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Darryl, Domini, and Delvin; Daughter Waynetta; Granddaughter and caregiver Kyia;  Granddaughters Keva and Neaja; Grandsons Kevin, Mike, and Demetrius; Brother Emanuel (Theresa) Courtland, Jr. along with a multitude of relatives and friends. 

In here final days, Henrietta was surrounded by an outpouring of love. Sincere gratitude is extended to all who visited, comforted, and prayed for her during her earthly journey. Your kindness and support are deeply valued.

A Public Viewing will be held on June 26, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH. The Celebration Of Life service will be held June 27, 2025, 2:30PM Wake and 3:00PM Service at New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 15225 Sunview Ave, Cleveland, OH. Dr. Darryl A. Bohles, Eulogist
