George Orlando Johnson Sr. was born on September 24, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio to the parents of George Hancock and Terry Johnson, who both preceded him in death.
George was a High School graduate who later joined the Armed Forces. He worked as an Outreach Worker for CMHA and later, University Hospital, where he later retired.
From a young age, George loved playing the guitar and was in several bands as a young adult. He loved collecting rare coins and gemstones and was devoted to the Father Initiative Program, where he won several awards and honors.
George was twice married and divorced; his first wife was Erma Sayles, and his second wife was Myra Lady Dove. He was a devoted father to 5 children: Carina Sayles, George Orlando Johnson Jr., Shamyra Johnson, Isaiah Jones, and Jada Johnson.
He also leaves behind his sisters Shirlonda and Yevette, his nieces Asia and Chyna, his nephew Chamar, his Great Neice, two Great Nephews, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of cousins and good friends.
George will be greatly missed. He loved his entire family equally and unconditionally. We gather today to recognize how heartbreaking it is to see him go, but to also take comfort in knowing that he has risen to a better place, and may we all be reunited with him in the future.
A public viewing will be held on April 8, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street (off East 71st and Harvard), Cleveland, OH.
