Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved, Douglas Young. Douglas Lofton Young was born on Wednesday, July 26, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio to loving and adoring parents JoAnne Marie and Fred Taylor Young. Both parents preceded him in death, as well as his sister, Toni Starr Twitty. Douglas, was the youngest of four children. He was the brand new baby boy, who filled our hearts with love and joy, completing the Young family circle.
Douglas accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, along with his entire family. They all served as members of Avon Avenue Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Thomas Chapman. Eventually, he rededicated his life to Christ and became a part of Set Free Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Tony Crosby.
Growing up Douglas performed every deed and endeavor swiftly, where it was running, dancing or any other undertaking...he was fast! His deep love and passion for dancing was obvious. He took great pride in his soulful and rhythmic routines. There was not a possibility of anyone to successfully challenge his abilities or talent. in a blink of any eye, Douglas would emerge as a conqueror.
During his primary stages of childhood, Douglas was distinguished by expert judgement, as often as a genius. These extraordinary conclusions sought the attention and admittance of colleges and universities, while in his elementary and junior high school years of education. Although having exceptional levels of intelligence, there also exited a realization of Dual Diagnosis. Things began to deteriorate, triggering challenges and limitations; however, he still continues to have enthusiasm for life! There was never a dull moment with Dougie! Never!
Dougie never accepted the word or action "NO"! When he was focused on results and his mind was made up, he wouldn't stop until he completed his task. Dougie was everywhere, you could look up and there was Dougie...downtown, uptown, east or west, there weren't too many spots in Cleveland where Douglas didn't make a name for himself.
Douglas never failed to keep his audience filled with smiles and laughter, especially when he would bust out with a vigorous round of laughter, and nothing was said. Last but not least, Dougie had the gift of gab and could use it to persuade you to give him monetary gifts. If you tried to change the subject, Douglas would bring you back to the initial question..."Do you have $20 dollars?", so he could wash his clothes. That was our Dougie, he will truly be missed.
Douglas peacefully moved into the ever-loving arm Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 6. 2022.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two siblings: Terry E. Young, Cleveland, OH and Pastor Pamela Johnson, Detroit MI; one aunt Bettye L. Ferguson; four nieces: Sherrie Burton, Danielle Young, Cortnie Burton and Nicole Nelson; one nephew LaVez Burton; four great-nephews: Shereise Burton, Jordai Burns, Brooklyn Burton and Jaymie Nelson; four great-nephews: Eugen Burton, LaMarr Burton, Isaac Young and James Cury Adkins III; two great great-nieces Isabella and Aurora and a host of relatives, friends and his extended family at Frontline.
