Dorothy White - Magby

We are saddened to announce the transition of Ms. Dorothy White - Magby.

Dorothy White Magby was born to the late Alec White and Ella Mae (Young) White in Cleveland, Ohio on April 28, 1961. She lived a life rooted in love, generosity, and a deep connection to those around her. 

Dorothy accepted Christ and was a member of Corinthians Baptist Church on 55th and White Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was involved in the church community and proudly served as the coach of the church's softball team, bringing encouragement, leadership, and joy to those around her. 

Dorothy had a vibrant spirit and passion for life's simple joys. She loved all kinds of music especially R&B which often filled her home and lifted her soul. She also enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories along the way. One of her greatest joys was cooking- bringing family together through meals filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Whether hosting gatherings or shopping for those she cared about, Dorothy was truly a giver at heart. 

Although she proudly called Cleveland home - the heart of the Cleveland Browns - Dorothy was devoted and outspoken fan of the Pittsburg Steelers. She loved the team unapologetically, never hesitating to defend them, no matter who was in the room. It was all in good fun, but if you knew Dorothy, you knew she stood her ground and she didn't mind one bit if anyone disagreed. She proudly adorned herself in Steelers' gear from clothing and shirts to hats and purses, representing her team with pride wherever she went, and you could often find her happily listening to "Black and Yellow" celebrating her team in true Dorothy Fashion. 

She was a devoted mother to her sons Cortez and Carlos who were the center of her world and the sources of her greatest pride. Dorothy's love for her children was unwavering - she supported them, uplifted them, and celebrated them in every stage of life-she cherished every moment spent with them. She embraced them with her guidance, strength, and unconditional love. 

Her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy and a special kind of happiness that lit up her spirit. She adored them deeply, cherishing every hug, every laugh, and every moment spent together. Whether she was sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply enjoying their presence, her love for them was boundless and pure. To her grandchildren, she was not only a grandmother but a source of comfort, joy, and endless love. 

Dorothy also shared an unbreakable and deep bond with her siblings, who were truly her heartbeat. She loved her sister Trevania (Ann), and her brothers, Alec (Fat), Derrick (who preceded her in death), Terrance (Robert), and Kevin. Their connection was built on a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, strength, and unwavering support. Dorothy cherished each of them in a unique and meaningful way holding close the lessons, love, and resilience they cultivated together. Through every season of life, they remained a source of comfort and unity for one another, a reflection of the strong family foundation they were raised in. The love between them was enduring and unshakable. 

Dorothy graduated from Sawyer College. She worked as a dental assistant, serving with compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help those in need. Her caring nature extended far beyond her profession and into all of her relationship and interactions. 

Dorothy will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of family, her laughter, her wacky dances, her fun, but competitive spirit, and the enormous joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her. 

Dorothy White Magby legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live in the hearts of those she leaves behind. 

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory sons Cortez (Michelle) Magby and Carlos (Eboni) Magby of Cleveland, Ohio; sister Trevania (Lee) Bethune of Akron, Ohio and brothers Alec White, Robert T. (Chalondra) White and Kevin (Rondetta) White of Orlando, Florida; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

A Public Viewing will be held on April 9, 2026, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH. The Celebration of Life Service will be on April 10, 2026, with a 10:00 AM Wake and 10:30 AM Service at Sanctuary Baptist Church, 4004 E 131st St, Cleveland, OH 44112. Sedric D. Veal, Sr, Eulogist. Internment will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Gardens.
