Charles Edwards Obituary

My Journey

Charles Edwards, affectionately known as "Chuckie," was born on April 22, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Luevonia Johnson Edwards and the late William Norman Edwards. Charles transitioned from this life on December 27, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of creativity, resilience, generosity, and an unforgettable spirit.

Charles attended Empire Junior High School and was a proud graduate of Glenville High School. From an early age, he demonstrated a deep passion for art. His exceptional talent earned him the opportunity to have his artwork displayed at Halle's Department Store in downtown Cleveland an achievement that reflected both his creativity and individuality.

Following high school, Charles honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Upon returning home, he began a long and dedicated career at Hough Bakery, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.

Charles was the proud father of one daughter, Yashica Banks, who was the light of his life. Through her, he was also blessed with one granddaughter, Cashmere Banks, who brought him great joy and pride.

Charles was known for living life on his own terms. A true free spirit, he embraced life fully, right or wrong, always determined to enjoy every moment. He was a social soul, a "party animal" at heart, and someone who loved laughter, music, and dancing. Beneath his bold personality was a man with a truly giving heart, always willing to help others in his own unique way.

Charles loved reading, cooking, music, and dancing, and he found joy in the simple pleasures that made life meaningful.

In 2008, Charles began a long and courageous journey after suffering a stroke. He fought bravely for many years and was lovingly cared for at home. During the final six months of his life, he received compassionate care at The Gardens of Fairfax, where his needs were attended to with dignity and respect. Through it all, his strength and spirit endured.

Charles was raised in a home where faith was valued, and the importance of God was instilled from an early age. He believed in God and lived his life as a Christian, guided by the principles he was taught. Though his journey was not without its challenges, his faith remained a steady presence, providing strength, comfort, and hope.

Charles lived boldly, authentically, and unapologetically. He lived life to the fullest. He is now a star, shining brightly, watching over those he loved, and resting in eternal peace.

Charles leaves to mourn his passing: his loving mother, Luevonia Edwards; his daughter, Yashica Banks; his only granddaughter, Cashmere Banks; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, laughter, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him
