Carl James Hackney, born January 9, 1945, to Clematis Blair and Frank Hackney in Cleveland, Ohio, was called to peace on April 22, 2023, following a brief illness.
Carl attended Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. His career path at Cleveland Twist Drill and Turner Construction guided him into entrepreneurship. His construction abilities helped him in wholesale real estate investing, purchasing many houses and using them for rental property and profit sale.
Carl's hobbies included drag racing, bowling, fishing, home remodeling, camping, and auto and computer maintenance and repair. Carl was a maverick in his own right, known for his strength, eagerness to learn, and ability to discern modern developments.
Carl is preceded in his passing by his parents, Clematis Blair and Frank Hackney, and his great-grandson Lamar.
Carrying his legacy and memories are his daughter, Marguerite Hackney; his grandchildren Chanita (Fred), Timmesha, Shayla, Timothy (Brianna), Milton (Channell), and Shawntale (DaVaughn); great-grandchildren, DeAndre, Zieanne, Chianne, Zion, Riyonna, Dre'Shawn, E'Laya, DeWaynescott, Lakya, Reymear, Milton Jr., Ti'Mirca, Markai, Shea Vaughn, Carliyah, Fredrick III, Cha Vaughn, and Levi; siblings, Devlora (James), Brenda, Kamau Rono, Oliver, Yvonne, Tonda (Willie), and Vernon, and a HUGE host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A public viewing will be held on April 25, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the House Of Peace Funeral Home, 4105 East 71st Street, Cleveland, OH.
