Bonnie Mae Lanier was born on March 20, 1944 in East Tallassee, Alabama to the late Willie Drew Lanier and Mattie Mae Lanier. Bonnie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Zion AME Zion Church in Tallassee, Alabama. She graduated from Wall Street High School in the Tallapoosa County, AL school system. After high school, Bonnie moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she was employed at Knowles Electronics in Schaumburg, Illinois as a quality control specialist. She later retired from Broach Candy Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Bonnie lived in Cleveland, Ohio for the past 14 years and was a resident at the Suburban Healthcare Center, when she departed this earthly life on November 4, 2023.
Bonnie was a social butterfly; she loved people and being out amongst them. She also enjoyed planning family gatherings and taking care of her loved ones. Some of the fondest family memories are of Bonnie doing hair on the weekends and her having her occasional gustos. She was an easy going, respectful and loving woman and she would help all she could, when she could. Even though she was kind-hearted, Bonnie didn't take no mess! But she never discriminated, spoke harshly, or had any ill will towards anyone else. She always spoke highly of her family and wanted the best for them.
Bonnie was the youngest of eight siblings, who all preceded her in death four Brothers: J.C. Henry, John Douglas Lanier, Paul Lanier, and Willie Drew Lanier and three sisters: Hattie Mae Felton, Mary Jane Lanier, and Betty Jean Driscoll.
Bonnie will be greatly missed by those who love her dearly - A daughter: Priscilla Lanier of Chicago, Illinois; three grandsons: Antonio M. Washington, Ladarris M. Lanier and Christian M. Lanier all of Chicago, Illinois; one great grandson: Nasir M. Washington; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Rest in Paradise Bonnie Mae Lanier!
