Anthony Grant Obituary

Anthony Lloyd Grant, also known as Tony, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Anthony was born on April 2, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Nathaniel and Virginia Grant. As a natural scholar, and elected Senior Class President, Anthony graduated from John Adams High School at the top of his class in 1980. Anthony, a born leader in his own right, continued his trajectory of leadership by holding several positions from childhood throughout college becoming Class President twice at Baldwin-Wallace College in 1982 and 1983, he was the first African American President of the Student Government Association and became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. In 1984, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College.

An alumnus of the INROADS, Incorporated program gave him the opportunity to intern with companies such as Deloitte and National City Bank where he ultimately began his career upon graduation as a Lending Officer. While he held many different titles at National City Bank he culminated in a successful over 30-year career with The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Here he held such positions as Project Manager, Corporate Compliance Banking Supervisor, and Senior Bank Examiner, retiring in 2019.

Anthony had a contagious laughter and humor about life that remains a core memory in all who encountered him. He enjoyed traveling, staying current on news events, listening to jazz from musicians like Brian Culbertson, and spending time with his family, particularly going out to eat and enjoying the full dining experience from appetizers to dessert.

Reflective of his life, Anthony's faith in God was well-known by everyone who met him. He accepted Christ at an early age at Werner United Methodist Church and was later baptized at Temple Baptist Church. As an adult, he served at New Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in various capacities such as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member and lastly attending Mt Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Anthony will be extremely missed but known for his most popular saying to "Let Go and Let God". He will be prominently remembered for continuously demonstrating and displaying his faith in God, even until the end of his life. He held a resilience and fight that would not let him quit even in illness.

Anthony leaves to cherish his memory a loving sister Annette Simmons and long-time friend and brother-in love Gregory Simmons. Three children: Tristan Fritz (daughter of Sonya Callans), a son-in-love Joshua Fritz, Sr, Justin Grant (son of Sonya Callans) and Jason Grant (son of Debra Grant); three grandchildren: Jaia Grant, Joshua Fritz Jr, and Journee Fritz; two nieces: Briana Medley (Ed Medley) and Brandi Simmons as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents.
