Annie Hampton Obituary

Annie Pearl Hampton was born in Columbus, Georgia on May 19, 1940, to the late Willie P. Bowman and Jessie M. Bowman. Ann (as she was known as for her friends and family), attended Greater Beulah Baptist Church in Columbus Georgia and at an early age she accepted and received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

Annie's education began in Columbus, Georgia where she made countless and unforgettable friends and memories. She relished and often reminisced on her schoolgirl days and the Spencer High School graduating class of 1959, that which she adored. After high school, Ann relocated to Ohio where she proudly attended the prominent HBCU, Central State University. Following college she settled into life in Cleveland, Ohio. There she found a new church home at Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Eugene Ward Sr., Ann was a loyal member for over 60 years serving on several auxiliaries; most notably she served on Usher Bboard #3, the Women's Choir, and the Nurses Ministry. She enjoyed fellowship with the Great Big Family, so many beautiful memories and friendships were made there. Ann even met her husband at Temple Baptist Church and in 1963 she married the late Donald J. Hampton, to their union four children were born.

Annie was an easy-going woman and not hard to please. She enjoyed cooking, traveling with her sister, and genuinely loved helping others. Ann worked in the banking industry for a few years and volunteered regularly at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. During the mid 80's Annie decided to hone into her calling of service to the aging population. She became a full-time care giver with Interim Healthcare and helped many senior citizens and their families live comfortably in their homes. Ann was a faithful woman with a heart of gold, often generously giving of her time, talents, and money to her loved ones. She lent quite the helping hand in supporting her children and grandchildren. When her health started to decline in 2007 Anie stopped working and switched gears to focus on enjoying her life with family and close friends.

On April 14, 2022, Annie closed her eyes to this world and released her beautiful spirit to its eternal resting place. She departed this life peacefully on a heavenly journey. Her service stopped in this physical realm but, will continue beyond this place because God surely embraced her and she has left a mark on her family that will change the world. She leaves behind to cherish her memoires; a loving son Ronald Hampton Sr., daughters, Valencia Hampton, and Dakita Hampton; a loving brother Willie Bowman Jr of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Ronald Hampton Jr, Sherri Perry, DaRohn Hampton, and Errique Cox; nine great-grandchildren, and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and tow loving friends Jean and Mary. Annie was preceded in death by her daughter Nina Hampton and two sisters Delores Wiley and Joan B. Harris.
